For 10 years, Femia dreamed of creating a bamboo industry in Suriname. An industry that would:

Over 25 years of professional experience in urban planning, land-use design, and sustainable development across Suriname, Guyana, and the Caribbean.
Author of the Spatial Planning act– the law that shaped Suriname’s national spatial planning policy.
Led and delivered national-scale infrastructure and environmental programs funded by UNDP, IDB, and the EU.
Recipient of a prestigious award from a top Indian university for her contributions to sustainable development.
